Emcore wins $6M contract to design solar panels for spacecraft

PARIS - Compound semiconductor vendor Emcore Corp. (Albuquerque, New Mexico) announced it has signed a $6 million contract with Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. (Boulder, Colorado) to design, manufacture, test and deliver solar panels for a new spacecraft.

Under the terms of the agreement, Emcore said the solar panels will be populated with its third generation ZTJ triple-junction solar cells with n-on-p polarity built on a 140-µm uniform thickness Ge substrate.
