Veeco's CEO takes chairman role

SAN FRANCISCO—John Peeler, CEO of semiconductor production equipment vendor Veeco Instruments Inc., has also been named the company's chairman, Veeco said Monday (May 7).

Peeler replaces as chairman Edward Braun, formerly Veeco's CEO, who served as chairman of the company's board of directors since 2007. Braun will remain a member of Veeco's board, the company said.

"Since John [Peeler] became Veeco’s CEO nearly five years ago, his leadership and vision have transitioned the company from an industry player to an industry leader," Braun said through a statement.

Veeco also announced that Joel Elftmann, a veteran semiconductor equipment executive and Veeco board member for 18 years, did not stand for reelection to the board after his term expired. Veeco's board now consists of seven members, Veeco said.
