Buy one virtual classroom seat and get one free!

I just received an interesting email from the folks at Altera that started off as follows:

Besides our many instructor-led classes and free online trainings, did you know that Altera also offers virtual classroom training?

Well, no I didn't, actually. They went on to say:

The benefits of our virtual classrooms are:
  • You can attend a live, instructor-led training from anywhere
  • You get content identical to in-person instructor-led classes
  • You can interact with a live Altera expert
  • You do not lose an entire working day, as the classes are taught in 4-hour sessions over 2 days

Fair enough – you can’t argue with any of these points. But wait, there's more, because they continued as follows:

We now have a special offer for you. If you buy one virtual classroom seat, you get one (worth $495) free! You can attend the second class yourself, or share it with a colleague within one year from the date of purchase. This promotion is valid from March 19, 2012 through July 31, 2012, and cannot be combined with any other offers or discounts.

They also provided a Search and Register link, so I bounced over to take a look. Actually, there are a couple of these courses that I wouldn’t mind taking myself. Sad to relate, however, I don’t have the time, I don’t have the money, and my brain is now so full of "stuff" that I'm not sure how much more it can hold (grin).

Obviously $495 is not an amount one throws around with gay abandon, but a good training course is certainly worth it if it improves your knowledge and productivity. And if you can get a second course free, then this really isn’t too shabby at all.

Have you attended any of these courses? If so, would you care to share your impressions?
