Foxconn invests $120M in new Apple production plant

SAN FRANCISCO--Foxconn Technology Group will spend $210 million on building a new production line for its biggest customer, Apple Inc., according to China Daily.

The plant, whose construction is planned to commence around October, has already been announced by local officials in Huai'an, where it will take up some 40,000 square meters (around 430,556 square feet) and employ 35,800 people.

Foxconn’s biggest facility, employing over 200,000 people, is currently located in Shenzhen.

Though Foxconn has not said what Apple products will be manufacturing at the new plant, the predicted output is valued at between 6 and 7 billion Yuan ($949 million to $1.1 billion). The import/export value of the new plant is predicted to reach $55.8 million according to the office of Taiwan Affairs of Huai’an city.

China Daily said Foxconn also planned to build yet another factory by next April, this one in the Hainan province.
