Agilent Technologies develops voice-over-LTE test system with Brüel & Kjær

Agilent Technologies has announced that the Agilent PXT wireless communications test set is now available for testing voice quality on Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) 4G phones with the Brüel & Kjær PULSE audio analyzer and Head and Torso Simulator (HATS).

Transporting voice over a packet-based LTE cellular infrastructure poses challenges that make voice-quality testing essential. The Agilent and Brüel & Kjær solution combines standards-based test methods with real-world base station emulation, RF test and functional test to ensure that VoLTE phones will meet user's expectations.

The Brüel & Kjær PULSE audio analyzer and HATS system support testing based on commonly used international standards such as ITU-T P.862 PESQ, 3GPP2 and 3GPP audio test specifications.

The Agilent PXT wireless communication test set represents a significant breakthrough in testing LTE user equipment. It incorporates flexible base station/network emulation, RF parametric and functional tests into one integrated unit. Used with the company's E6966A IMS-SIP network emulator software, the PXT enables VoLTE phones to make end-to-end voice and video calls using a wide range of industry standard codecs.
