MANHASSET, NY -- Ceva has made a strategic investment in Antcor, a provider of IP software for Wi-Fi in handsets, machine-to-machine and small cell applications.
The investment complements Ceva's strategy developing its Wi-Fi 802.11ac software with its CEVA-XC DSP wireless platform to support multiple air interfaces and protocols.
Antcor’s software IP primarily targets applications with multiple air interfaces such as LTE-Advanced, HSPA+, TV broadcasting, Bluetooth, GNSS and smart home networks. The company's Wi-Fi IP offering includes both PHY and MAC layers and is licensed with verification and simulation sodtware.
“The combination of the CEVA-XC DSP, CEVA’s Wi-Fi software libraries and silicon-based software development kit perfectly complements our market-proven Wi-Fi IP,” said Costas Meimetis, CEO at Antcor.
The CEVA-XC based Wi-Fi solution is fully scalable to address a broad array of applications ranging from low-end single-stream mobile station configurations, up to 802.11ac 4x4 access points.
Antcor is Ceva’s one of eight communications software partners earlier this year announced a Wi-Fi 802.11ac reference architecture addressing both PHY and MAC layers in software with minimal hardware acceleration.
The Antcor investment follows up on Ceva's earlier investment in eyeSight Mobile Technologies to provide an optimized software-based gesture recognition solution for the CEVA-MM3101 imaging and vision platform.
