Cloud-bound PLM 360 redefines product design cycle

MANHASSET, NY -- Autodesk, Inc. has introduced a low-cost cloud-based alternative to the traditional product lifecycle management systems.

Product lifecycle management is becoming more of a requirment in the global food chain for the electronics OEM. PLMs manage data about parts used, procurement of parts and system design,--all tied back to a main central data management system. EDA companies like Mentor Graphics and Synopsys have provided point solutions for specific markets like automotive and industrial. Last year, Virinco launched its WATS system in the German market tying global supply chain, R&D, production, test, quality and service for various markets.

Autodesk PLM 360 is an instant-on cloud-based PLM solution focused on business applications beyond engineering and bill of material management.

The service covers planning and product development as well as quality and compliance to service.

Dozens of pre-installed apps automate business processes across the lifecycle. Users can tailor apps or build their own to meet specific needs and without having to purchase additional modules.

Users access Autodesk PLM 360 from a managed data center which offers users anytime, anywhere access, from virtually any mobile device or web browser.

Autodesk's subscription model includes full function access for the first three professional users for free, with each additional user priced at $75 per month on an annual contract basis. According to Autodesk, this represents roughly one-tenth the cost of comparable functionality from legacy PLM providers.
