Dongbu Hitek drafts in CEO and foundry manager


LONDON – Analog and mixed-signal foundry Dongbu Hitek Co. Ltd. (Seoul, Korea) has announced the appointment of a CEO and senior manager in a move "to step up its global growth momentum."

Chang-Sik Choi, former executive vice president of Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., has been named president and CEO while Chan-Hee Lee, former executive vice president of MagnaChip Semiconductor Corp. has been named president in charge of Dongbu HiTek's foundry business.

Choi has 29 years of experience amassed with Samsung and his positions there have included head of foundry for the system LSI division, head of manufacturing, team leader for display driver IC business, and ASIC development team leader. Choi earned his Ph.D in electronic engineering from North Carolina University and both his master and bachelor degrees in material engineering from Seoul National University.

Lee worked for five years at MagnaChip, a supplier of analog and mixed-signal chips for consumer applications and he served as general manager of the foundry business. Earlier in his career he served as the general manager of Hynix Semiconductor's foundry business and prior to that worked for LG Semicoductor. Lee earned a B.Sc in electronic engineering from Korea's Kyungpook National University.
